Kris said, “A lot of people think this is a myth, saying you cannot do both. Lose fat while adding muscle but I have proven with my clientele and myself that it can be done. Earlier this year I dieted down using the 4 weeks to shred. I had 9 weeks of video shoots following that including photo shoots and appearances etc and I managed to put on 5 lbs over a 9 week period but my body fat remained the same. So I am going to give you some short, brief, quick  and very useful tips on how to add muscle without adding body fat.”

  • Increase your calorie consumption, but these should be clean calories. A good example is brown rice, add complex carbs in the way of oatmeal, sweet potatoes, and quinoa. Anything that’s more or less gluten free. Good sources of protein are white fish, a little red meat, turkey, and egg whites. Healthy fats like avocado and coconuts are good clean healthy sources of fats.
  • By Performing Cardio After Breakfast, you will spike your metabolism which after a good nights sleep is a bit slow, so by eating a healthy breakfast and performing cardio about an hour later will give your metabolism a boost. (Try to only go 2-3 hour between meals).
  • To get your insulin to spike take Protein Isolate after your workout, you need it to get that insulin spike, if you were to take carbs at this time it could possibly get stored as fats.
  • Don’t mix carbs and fat. Your body can’t use both so there is a chance that those fats will get stored. So if you are going to take fats take them in a meal that doesn’t contain carbohydrates.
  • Increase your intake of fiber.   Make sure you are getting a good source of fiber from foods like oatmeal, and vegetables to keep you regular. Fiber is essential to have a good healthy, tight stomach, just don’t over do it.
  • Use L-Carnitine.  This helps to utilize fat as an energy source.

Quick Tip

Kris shares another quick tip; “The cardio I used was HIIT cardio, (High Intensity Interval Training) if I was on a treadmill, every four minutes I would go all out for 1 minute for about 3 cycles.”
